Top Triangle Homes.  I think it’s about time to review some of the many fine places to live in the Triangle.  As most of the questions I receive concern new homes or top quality places to build that is what I will deal with.  With that in mind I will start with Creedmoor Partners new Wake Forest golfing community called Hasentree.  Hasentree is located on route 98 west of the city of Wake Forest and about 3 miles west of the Wakefield subdivision.  The golf course is a par 71 championship course designed by Tom Fazio.  The clubhouse will include massage treatment rooms and cardio and fitness equipment.  There will be a tennis and golf pro shop, pool, theatre/media room and a child’s club and activity area.  The 11,440 square foot Family Activities Center will offer more than 100 programs by professionally trained instructors.  There are more than 6 miles of walking and biking trails.  Lot sizes range from approx. one-half acre to an acre.  Custom homes will range from $800,000 to $5 million.  Golf Villas start in the $800s and homesites range in price from the $350s to $600s.

As Hasentree is new there are only four current MLS listings of spec homes. All are currently under construction.  Bettom Builders (Tom Petrucelli) is building a 4161 square foot, 4 bedroom 3 1/2 bath home at 1204 Ladowick Lane on a 0.47 AC lot.  Some of its features are a main floor master, a main floor office/study, a hearth room off of the kitchen and a main level 19×12 screened porch.  The second floor includes a 19×14 media room and a 28×14 bonus room.  There is a 3 car garage.  It is priced at $969,900.

Spectrum Homes (Bill Sawyer & Lyle Gardner) are building a 4870 square foot home at 1020 Ladowick Lane.  The master bedroom is located on the main floor as is the 22.5×18.5 family room.  The guest suite is also on the main floor. On the second floor you will find a 22×25 bonus room as well as an office/study.  On the third floor is a huge 29.5×19 rec room.  The home has 4 bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths, a three car garage, a 26×16 main level screened porch and is situated on a 0.69 AC lot and is priced at $1,085,000.

At 1105 Ladowick Lane Huntley Design Build (Will Huntley) is building a 5482 square foot home.  Of this 3982 square feet is above grade and 1500 square feet is below grade. It has a main floor master and screened porch.  The lower level rec room is 18×18.5 and the family room (also on the lower lever) is 17×17.  There are areas for future theatre and exercise areas as well.  The second floor bonus room is 27×11.6.  It has 5 bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths.  The lot size is 0.55 AC. This home can be yours for $1,275,000.

At 7108 Hasentree Club Drive your will find a masterpiece by Mark Massengill.  This home is nearly (if not totally) complete. It has 4626 finished square feet above grade and 2000 unfinished square feet below grade that you can have completed to you specifications or leave unfinished - as you wish.  The master bedroom is on the main level and is the office/study and a fine keeping room.  The second floor bonus room is 19×15.  It is on a 0.67 acre lot and you can walk to the swim, tennis and fitness center facilities.  The home is priced at $1,295,000.

Cary, North Carolina.  The Triangle’s first five star hotel (of size) is due to open in Cary within the next ten days.  It’s the result of the dedication and drive of Ann Goodnight, the wife of SAS co-founder Jim Goodnight.  The $80 million hotel will be called the UMSTEAD.  Standard room rates will, for openers, be from $295 to $350 per night until April and then increase to $350 to $425 per night.  Suites start in the low $400s.  The 1,700 square foot Presidential suite will set you back a cool $2,200 per night. 

The Umstead will offer a 14,000 square foot spa, 10,000 square feet of meeting space, a 6,000 square foot rear lawn for weddings and other open air events and a three acre pond.  South American Anegre wood panels the interior walls and art works by North Carolina artists will line the corridor outside of the meeting rooms.  Guests may bring their pets.  An outdoor elevator will handle guest luggage.  No eye clutter here.
